Francis: Faith, Culture, Media and Morality
Dr. David Deane, Professor of Theology at the Atlantic School of Theology
Pope Francis was named Time Magazine Man of the Year as reformer, anti-capitalist, and cultural artifact. What does the response to this media darling and his wildly successful re-branding of Roman Catholicism say about faith, culture, the media, and morality in the 21st century? In this presentation, Dr. David Deane will explore Francis the person, the theologian, and the brand, from a variety of perspectives as well as consider the impact of this new pope on the Catholic Church’s role in the world.
