Board and Staff

William Lahey

William Lahey is the 25th President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of King's College. He was educated at Mount Allison and at the Universities of Oxford and Toronto. He was a Rhodes Scholar and clerked with Mr. Justice La Forest of the Supreme Court of Canada. He practiced law in the private and public sectors and has held senior roles in Nova Scotia's public service, including as Deputy Minister of Environment and Labour.

He is a faculty member of the Schulich School of Law and has published in legal history, administrative law, health law, environmental law and energy law. He has written or co-written commissioned reports on mental health legislation, professional regulation, the legislative framework for Canadian health care and energy, forestry and aquaculture regulation. He chairs the boards of directors of EfficiencyOne (Efficiency NS); the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Public Affairs.
