Board and Staff

William Lahey

William (Bill) Lahey is Associate Professor at the Schulich School of Law and the School of Health Administration, Dalhousie University, where he is member (and past Director) of the Health Law Institute and member of the Marine and Environmental Law Institute. He teaches Public Law, Administrative Law and Health Systems Law and Policy and is the winner of two teaching awards. He has published in the fields of health law, administrative law, constitutional law, environmental law, and legal history. William is consulted on policy, law and regulation in the fields of health, energy, environment and natural resources.

William is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Efficiency Nova Scotia Corporation. He has also served as Vice-Chair of the Board of the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation and is Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Segelberg Trust Dialogues on Faith and Public Policy.

William has held senior roles in the Nova Scotia public service, including Deputy Minister of Environment and Labour (2004-2007) and Assistant Deputy Minister of Health (1998-2001). He clerked with Mr. Justice La Forest of the Supreme Court of Canada, is a Rhodes Scholar graduate of Mount Allison and has law degrees from Oxford and Toronto.
