Kothai Kumanan

Kothai Kumanan is a PhD student at the Saint Mary's University and has a Master's in Health Administration (Dalhousie University). Her research interests include system transformation with an emphasis on governance and primary health care reform. She is currently exploring the role of citizen engagement in health care decision-making and governance, an interest sparked by her time as Chair of the Cobequid Community Health Board.

Kothai has experience as a policy analyst with the provincial government and consulted in areas such as health human resourcing, international pharmaceutical pricing policies, aboriginal health, physician resource planning, cultural competence and collaborative care.

Before returning to Nova Scotia, Kothai spent over a decade teaching and administering national programs in Japan.
